3.Treasurer’s report- N.Nickodem reviewed current report to be filed

4. Guest speakers-

a. Tim Jones representing Dearborn Health and Racquet Club presented a brief description of the health club/gym located on Gulley south of Mich. Ave. New ownership has resulted in an entire renovation of the club and Mr. Jones brought packets describing membership options for community members including discounts for neighborhood associations.

b. Mayor Jack O’Reilly  was present and touched on several topics.  The Master Plan for the City is up for review and will be outlining the direction  of what the City should look like 20 years forward. Reinventing neighborhoods to sustain 50 + years is a major component. Housing , commercial and residential ordinances and rental issues need to be addressed. The Mayor is looking for a diverse representation from the community to work on the Plan Committee, including some from neighborhood associations. Anyone interested in joining the 4-5 month process may submit a brief Bio to the Mayor’s office ( email-joreilly@ci.dearborn..mi.us ).

Questions  turned to rental properties that the Mayor said is being handled by a new ordinance that included vacant properties having 6 mos. initial inspection and yearly follow up with code compliance for any structural deficits. Other options being explored include rental registration for owner/ renters in addition to C of O’s, using current lists of HUD properties and possibly future bank foreclosures to watch vacant homes for looters, vandalism and squatters. The City will look at supporting neighborhood crime watch programs also.

5. J. Cascardo introduced the old Neighborhood Task force that is currently on hiatus and suggested it be united with the DFNA . The Mayor added that possibly a piggyback meeting of 6:30 for the Task Force with those interested from the DFNA attending before the traditional start time of 7:30 for DFNA be a possible compromise. Since City employees are requested to participate with the Task Force there should be prior planning by e -mail to have only those from the City necessary for the current agenda invited to attend.

An article regarding identity theft was shared. Public service days will start in January requiring cars to be off the street on garbage pick up days starting the first full week of the month and possibly include a second sweep on the third week. Basketball hoops ordinance was revised so that any hoop between the sidewalk and the street can be confiscated by police without ticket or warning. S. Gencarelli asked if Godfrey Udoji could be invited as a guest speaker to review the CSO project and upcoming street work.

A motion was made by N. Nickodem to incorporate the Neighborhood Task Force with the DFNA, holding a Task Force meeting prior to regular DFNA meeting time.

Second by C. Sharp

Unanimous roll followed.
