Highlights
of the presentation:
·
Cpl. Bartok requested to be included on the
neighborhood e-mail list and expressed interest in
attending individual neighborhood meetings and offered to
speak to the groups on crime and prevention in the city.
·
Dearborn will be enhancing police patrols
and presence in targeted areas of the city. The stepped up
presence is
funded by a Federal grant.
·
Strict enforcement and high visibility are
the goals. The operation is to act as a deterrent to
crime, to take away opportunity for the criminal.
Additional officers and supervisors will be assigned to
targeted areas.
·
Patrols will include bicycle, vehicle,
community policing, and deployment of uniformed reserves.
·
Expect traffic enforcement, multiple patrol
vehicle stops with flashers to aid in visibility of our
police force to would-be criminals.
·
Report all suspicious activity to the
police; emergency 911, non emergency to 943 3030. Keep the
police informed to keep your neighborhood safe.
·

Highlights
of the presentation:
·
Dearborn is investigating ways to retain
level of service in these tough economic times.
·
Outsourcing of street sweeping and grass
cutting is saving approximately $26,000.
·
10 weeks of fall leaf pick-up costs
approximately $650,000. versus $200,000. For a bagged leaf
pickup.
·
Residents will have to pick their priorities
as we move forward with declining revenue.
·
Fordson Island
received a $150,000 grant to aid in its Brownfield
remediation and restoration to a wildlife refuge, Friends
of the Rouge are playing a large part in the process.
·
Co-mingled trash and recyclables are a
problem at the reclamation center, education is needed for
what should be in the recycle totes.
·
Summer concerts and East Dearborn Downtown
Development Jazz concerts will be offered again this
summer.
·
DPW is responsible for: water, sewer, roads,
lighting, sanitation, trees and rat abatement, see DPW web
